Sarah has been weaving since childhood. She recently retired from Syracuse University, where she taught handweaving and textiles. Now she has a weaving studio in Pawtucket as well as teaching at the RIWC in Wakefield.

Janet Austin
Tapestry

Janet fell in love with weaving in 1972, as a student at Massachusetts College of Art, then spent 8 years weaving functional items to sell. Feeling the urge to create images, she pursued an MFA in Painting, and has been weaving tapestries inspired by her paintings since 1983. Janet teaches, writes, lectures and blogs as part of her mission to educate the world about tapestry.

Gretchen White
Knitting and Quilting

Gretchen has been knitting as long as she can remember. She knits every day, including Fair Isle, stranded color-work, cables, Brioche, and lace. Wool is her preferred medium and she tries to support small flocks, small mills, indie dyers, and indie pattern developers. Her interests in quilting are geometric designs with accurate seams and points, either cut and pieced or with paper foundations. Traditional designs or with a modern flavor.

Elizabeth Springett
Inkle Weaving

Elizabeth Springett is Principal and Creative Director at WovenSeas Weaving Studio located in Warren RI. WovenSeas is a textile maker space specializing in woven cloths such as towels, placemats, rugs, scarves and shawls, all of natural fibers. Teacher, colorist, designer, and sales, Elizabeth manages all aspects of the textile studio and shop, both online and in person. Elizabeth loves color and texture and gathers much inspiration from the land, sea, and sky while biking along East Bay.

Linda Rhynard
Introduction to Tapestry Weaving

Linda Rhynard is Owner of Kindred Spirits Creations- a studio dedicated to teaching Weaving in Bristol, RI. 


Linda has been passionately engaged in Fiber Arts for the last 20+years and is a Certified Weaving a Life instructor, has taken extensive workshops at Harrisville Design Studio, John C Campbell Folk-art School, The Weaving Studio- with Marilyn van der Hoogt, Tapestry Classes with Janet Austin, Susan Martin Maffei (ATA 2014)- Workshops: Tamar Shadur, Northampton Mass., Color and Design Workshop with Rebecca Mezoff ,Navajo Weaving classes through Weaving in Beauty in Gallup N.M (Gloria Begay and Jenny Slick) and multiple classes with Lynda Teller Pete and Barbara Teller Ornelas.  


Linda’s work has been exhibited in several juried shows both locally and Nationally. She was also a contributor this past Spring to the UMass Dartmouth Exhibit “Contemporary Textiles reflecting Abolition, Slavery and the Road North. She has also been included in several ATA Exhibit Publications.


While Linda’s classes are primarily hosted at her studio in Bristol, RI, for the past Five years Linda has hosted classes at Bristol Art Museum, Linden Place-in conjunction with BAM and at Blitheworld Museum. She also participates in various weaving demonstrations with her associated guilds or as an invited guest.
